Texas steak is the biggest scoff on Route 66

You are entering Texas, fearless state of USA, where the Mother Road - Route 66 measured 182 US miles. Route 66 in Texas is looks like a gash… straight, deep and long. Texas is the second largest state of USA by size, but Mother Road - Route 66 is not the longest there. In any case Texas is not to be among the poorest in terms of experiences! Big Texan Steak Ranch in Amarillo is the first point of Mother Road - Route 66 trip in Texas. This steak ranch serves the biggest steak in the world. Texas offers most remarkable place of Mother Road - Route 66 at all. This place is Cadillac Ranch just about 5 miles west of Amarillo, TX. What you can look for anything else? There is the MidPoint. Point which is exactly in the middle of Mother Road - Route 66. The point from which is the same distance to Chicago, IL or to Los Angeles, CA. Back in the beginning ...

Advance warning: “Payment at the gas station. Trivial thing at the first glance is. On the other hand unmatched problem! Especially for our eastern brothers… Apply here: 'when two do the same thing, it's not the same'. US gas station looks identical as European, but hides certain pitfalls. Yanks have it otherwise. Let me begin by important thing, which Yanks have only one tube and that refueling a gasoline or diesel you choose through the buttons on the stand. Do not worry. Most cars in America run on gasoline, so the stands where you can put diesel are a few. Buttons for gasoline are red and are differentiated according to octane values. Button on diesel is green. You have to decide to pay by cash or by credit card before you refuel. Pay by Credit card is a bit easier and faster. Just insert the card into the payment terminal on the gasoline stand. At that moment  system is activated and you can select fuel and finally tank. Subsequently, the terminal spits out your confirmation. When you pay cash, you must go to cash desk at first. There you have to say that you want to refuel for XX US$ or give deposit to crew. After they activate the stand and the process is the same. The difference is that when you put more money or a deposit, you can take your underspend money at the cash desk, receipt included."

Back to the Mother Road - Route 66 and the quick stop is the Shamrock, TX. There is old Magnolia Station, which is a gas station in the Art Deco style. Near of it is the Conoco gas Station from 1936, restaurant and motel included.

You can reach McLean, TX town relatively quickly, but we do not stop there... It is pity, because there is Avalon Theatrefrom 1930 or Red River Steak House. Well going ahead...

Out of gas! What to do now?! Quickly to the gas station! The nearest is in Alanreed, TX. It is an old gas station, post and a small trade insight included. Pleasant atmosphere interrupt request by colleague: "David, could you help me please? I gave the deposit at the cash desk and I can not refuel. Pump man does not want to give my money back.". So I went back to solve the problem. The problem subsists of fact that there were two bikes at one gas stand. Chummy from Zlín wanted to pay cash, so he went to the cash desk to give a deposit. While he hangs around in the store, another eastern chummy took a tube and refueled his motorcycle. This eastern chummy insert credit card into terminal but transaction did not realize. He went to buy something at the drag store and the pump man returned the cash to him. He does not seem strange on it... Czech chummy refueled and when he came to rest of his money the pump man wanted 16 US$ more. He said that he gave 20 US$ to him as deposit. Finely, it explained and eastern colleague returned money to Tonda. Those, which he refueled for. Well, another country, another ethic!

Mother Road - Route 66 continues through Jericho, TX and Groom, where is the falling tower. It is water reservoir in fact, but used as an advertising banner for a local restaurant and service. Down to the city is Golden Spread Motel from 1957, where shooting one of the movie scene "Leap of Faith". Steve Martin was actor at the 1992. Next attraction in town is 190 feet tall white cross created in 1995 under the name Lord Jesus Christ.

I do not think I would like to pray, well go on. Approximately 25 miles before today’s target is the place called Conway, TX. Why is Conway interesting? Thus, there is parody of Mother Road - Route 66symbol, well Cadillac Ranch. If you are interested in famous Cadillac Ranch go to the Cadillac Ranch section.

Hunger drives me out of Mother Road - Route 66 directly to the city of Amarillo, TX. Exactly where make famous steaks, Big Texan Steak Ranch. If you compare the price for food in the Czech Republic and USA in the same meat sizing… fucking enormous. Texas people have really financial advantage! In the quality level, so I had better steak at CZE... but even worse! Otherwise, service or interior was really cool. Yanks have weird habits. For example, they consider a good fun when somebody gag in the restaurant... still to do it on an stage, that everybody can fuck good view of it! Well, he can not scoff 72 OZ steak per 1 hour. If he can do it, Bobby Lee will pay for him and escort him by limousine to home. In this case Yanks must to pay cca 100 US$ and he folksy discredit at me! Big Texan Motel stated at front of the pub. This is the classic wooden western colorful building. It's really stylish. All you can see find Cowboy star carved in wood and similar crap. Overnight recommendation by me! If you prefer a spiritual life you have to visit Golden Light Cafe, which is the oldest functioning pub without interruption on Mother Road - Route 66. It works since 1946. I was not there unfortunately, but you definitely go there!

I look forward every day to once again drive Mother Road - Route 66. First we pass the Bushland town, Wildorado and then Vega, TX. Right here shoot the country music hit "I Never Knew Lonely" in the local Vega Motel. The American folk star Vince Gillchose room number 21 to shoot it in 1992. So if you're a fan of country music, go to the Vega Motel... I'm not a fan Country music, well I miss it and just looking with a pleasure.

And here we are! In the middle of Mother Road - Route 66! At a place called MidPoint, Adrian, TX. More information you can find in dedicated section, well read it

I ate and left. It is only 5 miles away. What? Cadillac Ranch of course! Are you interested in it? Want to know more about it? Go to Cadillac Ranch section!

So, Texas ends! New Mexico begins!
