Oldest and longest part of Route 66 is in Oklahoma

You can find the oldest part of Mother Road - Route 66 in Oklahoma. It dates from 1922, well it is 4 years older than Mother Road - Route 66. It's just rural road between the city of Miami and Afton, OK. Just only narrow road with places, where you can avoid upstream cars. To ride this part of Mother Road - Route 66 is real adventure. You can see just cracked road at front of you… swirling dust from the wheel in the back of you.

Mother Road - Route 66 located in Oklahoma is not only the oldest, but it is also the longest. It measure 386 US miles.

Advance warning: “I felt very comfortable and safety on the American roads. There are two reasons. Yanks are very disciplined and strictly follow traffic rules. The second reason is the police oversights. On the other hand, Yanks, from my point of view, are not good drivers, according the reasons stated above. You can see the Consequences whenever something unpredictable happens. Yanks do not predict anything. They just see ahead with open gab. Improvising is not crossing those minds and they can not do anything to avoid danger… Let me give an example. When I was in the St. Luois, MO in a bar in the evening, returned and it started rain hard. There was nobody on the street. As I wrote earlier about the dangers with oil on the cross roads in America I had a little accident too. Upon arrival to the cross roads I easily stopped there. After the green on the lights I was starting. I was at the separated turning lane took a short cut into cross roads. As soon as I touched the front brake, I really did not do it, so my front wheel slipped and I could not keep the heavy motorcycle in an upstanding position. Well, I fall down. Fortunately, almost zero speed. I see a big Pick-up at front of me, no reaction by driver…The fuck women missed me about 5 cm without correct her direction! Just seeing out of window, gab open! She strictly keeps her lane! Does not matter there was nobody on the street except us…This is a typical picture of American roads and drivers. My safety feeling is accruing from the fact, that everybody drive the same speed, nobody overtaking and nobody do reckless maneuvers. Only "marten face"... Cars are going from 80 to 85 miles per hour. Trucks are going from 70 to 75 miles per hour. No shit over. This means that it is very easy to predict the sequence of traffic events, well finally the traffic is very fluently, fast and safety.“

Miami, OK is the first city on Mother Road - Route 66trip in Oklahoma, the longest part of it. It is a cute little American town. As in many other small American towns, there is great peace. Nobody anywhere… As is A-bomb explosion. You can not meet anybody on the street, just abandoned car stated aside... Coleman Theatre is the place to visit and wait for a minute in Miami, OK. This theater was built in 1929. The building is conceived in the Spanish missionary style and can contain 1 600 people.

If you are dependent upon Hamburgers so you have to stop in Vinita, OK. Why? Because there's largest McDonald's in the USA. It is situated on 30 000 square feet. Larger McDonald's found only in China. Where? In Beijing. I am not keen on hamburgers, well I stopped elsewhere.

My food stop was inAfton, OK. I have thing for old blondes... so I wanted to say gas station! The gas station is located on Main Street roughly in the middle of town. Where else on Mother Road- Route 66…  Gas station is joined by Packard carmuseum. Visit it, because there are a lot of great old cars. If Yanks can anything, they can appreciate its history. May be it is so young...

Can you do a "white" whale? Me neither... Along the Mother road - Route 66 in Cartoosa, OK is Blue Whale, however is blue, made from steel. Originally it was a gift for wedding anniversary. Blue Whale was built in the early 70-ies. Although there is really clean and carefully maintained environment, toilets included, so you can not pay any entrance fee. Blue Whale stands in the middle of Litlle Lake and private property. Keep official opening hours.

Tulsa is another town on Mother Road - Route 66in Oklahoma. There is a lot to see, for example Route 66 Museum, includes Harley-Davidson motorcycle owned by Michael Wallis. Who is Michael Wallis? The Writer who was Pulitzer Prize nominated for three times. Among his books include "Route 66: The Mother Road" or "Billy the Kid: The Endless Ride". Sheriff's voice and character made by Michael in the famous animated movie Cars. As usual I decided to go for a dinner to the center of Town in the evening. I reached a business area with skyscrapers... switched on public lights… nobody on the street… empty city… it is more than one million people Ghost town... Pretty scary ... I found an Italian restaurant. I arrived a few minutes after nine, and went to the pub. Nobody was there. Just staff. I sat down and ordered a beer and food. Waitress normally asked me: "Could you show me your ID please?". She means driving license or passport. I'm quite surprised. I am not look like teenager... but I had to show my ID, because otherwise I do not get a fucking beer! Food and service was excellent, but I had to leave before 10 o clock, because there is the low in this state, which specifies closing hours. I went to the bar, which can be opened until the second in the morning. A few people were inside. It even had a live music... We had breakfast in the Ollies Station Restaurant, Tulsa, OK. Ollie’s restaurant use train models to deliver drinks to the table. Super idea…The food was not too bad... service had been stagnated a bit…

Mother Road - Route 66 continues through the city of Arcadia, OK. Here is one of the most interesting attractions on the Mother Road - Route 66. We're talking about The Round Barn building. It is circular building with a concave roof. Gift Shop is on the first floor and the second is circular dance room. Sam was my personal guide around The Round burn. Apparently the owner himself, however he was very nice. Do not forget to stop here.

After the circular dance floor where we twisted as Tasmanian devil we stopped in Oklahoma City, OK. We visited the parliament building here, the Senate and the Supreme Court. We got a guide, a typical American woman proud of her country and everything what represents. She talked about the State of Oklahoma history, 46th State of the United States. We promenade around the imagery created by still living artists… There is not too much to see, except the Art gallery. You can meet just important mugs in a lot of offices.  To visit Western Trail Trading Post from 1931, Ann's Chicken Fry House  from 1971,Lake Overholser Bridge  from 1924 or Deluxe Inn Motel, where filmed one of the scene of famous Rain Man movie in 1988 is better idea. Motel was renamed for the purpose of the Rain Man movie on Amarillo Finest, Room No. 117...

Clydesdales, OK will be our next stop. Why? Here live probably the biggest horses in the world... really BIG. Yanks needed palomino that would be able to pull a heavy load on huge stagecoach. Well the horses from Clydesdales are two times bigger then any other horses. I rode one of them… view from 2 meters horseback on the world is really exciting. Yanks says: "Big is better…".

When we visited the horse ranch, we also have to visit buffalo ranch. Buffalo Ranch is located near Oklahoma City, OK. Rancher Jack rears buffalos for meat and said that he sells 18 buffalos every year. He brought us on a "buffalosafari". Charlie was the boss of Jacks herd. I do not want to meet Charlie on the free prairie without a proper rifle. Buffalos are really fast and strong. Indians traditional dance performance follows the safari. Unfortunately it was rather a parody of the traditional Indians and dance too. It was such mongrel rap and actors really did not show anything. There is a habit in America to pay after the performance of around 15 US$. I disliked the show even 1 US$, so I gave them nothing. I'm sorry, but do not suffice just wear colorful costumes and perform themselves as member of some kind of responsibility for the indigenous tribe... Poor performance means no reward.

We continue on Mother Road - Route 66 trip through El Reno, Geary, Clinton, Elk City, Sayre to Erick, OK. Harley and Annabelle Russell are waiting for you in this small town on Mother Road - Route 66. They are well-known as pure rednecks through their shouting, "Yee HAW". That's them! Those are hippies in red-white striped trousers. They are so sociable and hearty, you really started believe them... They invite you to their home, offered something to drink. Alcohol or soft drinks for free and you can even smoke inside! Again, if you do not like the show, you can not pay. Their show liked me very much, so I gave to them 20 US$. They are good musicians and sang the "Get your Kiks on Route 66" by Bobby Troup. You can feel in a family way in their junk store, cool air and there's always what gape at something...

That's all from Oklahoma! "Yee Haw" to Texas...
