Rain Man on Route 66 in Missouri

313 miles Mother Road - Route 66 waiting for you in Missouri. You are going through many miles of low-populated areas on the one hand, and on the other hand, the largest and most populous city on Mother Road - Route 66. This part of America is still green with lots of trees and relatively rugged landscape.

Advance warning: “Traffic density on Mother Road - Route 66 is not heavy, but there is necessity be careful of Yanks, who do not have switch on the lights even poor visibility. It is twilight or nighttime, raining, driving along the humps through forest and suddenly appears a fucking guy into big pick-up with switch off lights at front of you! It's not so abnormal situation happens to me several times! This situation experienced even at night by me! You say to yourself, fuck you idiot, you can not turn on the fucking lights?! Mother Road - Route 66 is broken somewhere, well you decided cross the road to opposite direction, because it looks better. It is quite dangerous according the reasons described above. So take care for assholes! I understood to our European commitment according to annual all- day lightning. It is meaningful...”.

We left the Chain of Rocks Bridge, located in the boundary between Illinois and Missouri. You can see city of St. Louis from the Chain of Rocks Bridge. St. Louis is the largest and most populous city, located on Mother Road - Route 66. Don’t miss Gateway Arch constructed at 1965. There is observatory on the top of Arch, which provides magnificent view over the city.

I am warning you for dangerous oil on the road, especially before the Cross roads item before, well in Illinois. My colleagues come from Moravia do not respect warning, so they fell before the cross roads, when red light switched on. Ogar press the front brake too strongly and did not know how fast and why he was on the ground. Fortunately they were only a few bruises and scrapes motorcycle. Well deposit in EagleRidersis fucked up…

Do you know Jesse James? If yes, visit Jesse James Wax Museum located in Stanton. Stanton is the city on Mother Road - Route 66 near St. Louis. Unfortunately the museum was already closed. Sign informed me that Jesse James museum is for sale. The owners threaten with it and it happens! Just when I arrive there, fuck!

Continuing the Mother Road - Route 66 to the town used same name as Island of freedom. That’s right, Cuba. Famous Mother Road - Route 66 mural city. There is a fuck picture at each house... I make light of it, but each picture has idea and elaborated. Each of the murals has its basis in the canvas paintings. It is usually also painted by author on the wall. Cuba City is also famous for the movie with Tom Cruise and Dustin Hoffman. Which movie is it? Sure - Rain Man.

The Mother Road - Route 66 partly overlaps by I-44 Hwy and here it is. Once again we left the I-44 Hwy for a few miles to get the old Mother Road - Route 66. Than we arrive to the town of Rolla, which is famous for its bridge and restaurant. The bridge is known as Devils Elbow Bridge and it is located a few miles before town of Cuba. Devil’s Elbow Bridge comes from 1923. At front of the bridge is an old pub Elbow Inn Bar and BBQ famous for bras collection. Bras fall down from roof beyond the pool. Otherwise I'm feeling very friendly and unique atmosphere. If you can persuade your girlfriend let her bra here. The owner will be pleased by this act and you'll have interesting story...

Next stop Lebanon. Lebanon is classical American city with long Main Street with restaurants and then suburbs. Near the Main Street is traditional motel looks like the movie building come from the fifties. Munger Moss Motel - Red Carpet Inn is classical representative Mother Road - Route 66 motels and it is really very nice and comfortable. Generally, American standards are different than European even according to bad sizing. Each room has large bed, so when you sit on the edge of bad you can not reach floor by foot. That is my case even though I measure 180 cm. Opposite of the motel is an old restaurant with bowling known as Starlight Lanes. I had a beer there and play pool. No one was free, well I played poll with Pepa, my room-mate. I won... just beer.

Despite Marschfield and Strafford we get Springfield, MO. Why I accentuate the localization in Missouri? Any Springfield is usually out of the way of each US state. If you want to eat well and relax in the traditional American Drive-Inn restaurant, so you must go to Steak n 'Shake Drive-Inn from 1962. Opening hours are from 10 to 23 hours, plus auto-moto service station included. If you are inside you feel like in the movie Easy Rider. You almost can see drunken Jack Nicolson sits at front of you and mug... really great food and they had hot tea...

Hurry to the town of Gay Parita, which is about 20 miles west of Springfield. What's so interesting here? Gay Parita Sinclair an old gas station again. Originally, it is not gas station, but everything is arranged to persuade yes. It is a dummy, but done with sense and elegance. Gary, the owner, is a sociable guy, and he is able to entry even the toilets door... Gary’s pump is one of the best old gas station I visited on my Mother Road - Route 66 trip.

We continue through Carthage, city famous for Carthage Drive Inn. The drive-in works a the obvious cinema, well the difference is you use your car instead of cinema building and the sound tunable at your own FM radio frequency. Buffet, of course, is inside the drive-in and toilets too. Cinema space is really big... Yanks do everything in the car. So why don’t use a car and gape at movies from it?

So what? Moving on? Let's go to Kansas... hooray!
