Death Valley - tingling kiss of death
Do you expect relaxed ride along Mother Road - Route 66? That is why we will make Death Valley trip. Driveway through Mojave Desert is full of kitschy scenery. Best way how to get Death Valley started in Las Vegas, NV. Take Route no. 190, which will directly takes you to Death Valley National Park. Everybody is excited of Deadly Valley, but I am "worn-out" of it... first sight suggests what does it means "taste of death" to you, somewhere in Nowheresville particularly on the border between Nevada and California. You will convince yourself, that there is just "sweaty dry-salted shit" by second view, but I am finally glad I saw and experienced it personally!
A little bit Information about Death Valley:
- 5 262 square miles (13 630 km2)
- Death Valley became National Park in 1933
- Death Valley is second deepest point on west half-world measuring 282 feet (86 m) under the Sea - Badwater Basin
- Appraisal age is 1,7 billion years
Early morning in Las Vegas, NV, was nice and warm weather. So I took just jeans… I call a few unflattering names to myself, when we left Las Vegas. Big Mountains appeared at front of us and I need to pass it! On the top of the Mountain was cold again... well, we must withstand it… while we ride down lower and lower and Death Valley approached before us weather become warmer and warmer! You get self-checkout at front of Death Valley entrance after a few hours of great ride through desert landscape. Motorcycle entrance fee is US$ 10 per day.
I scrap with fucking vendor, which rejects my paper bucks, because it has declination corner! Suddenly I saw small group of motorcyclists out of Death Valley direction... completely naked! Strictly speaking are almost naked. They dressed in sweaty short trunks only! Exactly those linen, patterned, brown communist trunks! Do you guess their nationality? Yes, clear! Russians... they feel cool even in Rocky Mountains.
I won over the vendor, so we could go ahead to first Death Valley stop. It was Desert View, from which is a nice view of the sandstone dunes. Dunes are large, very rugged, edgy and wrinkled. There are plenty of trite trails to the tops of dunes, so I decided to walk along one of them. Fuck it quite slippery! So watch out... you can see Badwater Basin despite Desert View, which was get later by us.
We are still above sea level so air temperature is pleasant. Get on motorcycle and follow on Death Valley road trip. We reached Furnace Creek Ranch after several miles. It is small oasis exactly on sea level. Currently we miss Furnace Creek Ranchin this direction and go on downhill to Badwater Basin. It is about 13 US miles out of oasis and it is getting hot like hell! You will reach park place under the cliff, where is no blasted shadow! So the only fuck shady place is aside from WC, ashtray included! WC is quite stinks, but otherwise it is really clean. I dressed off, took bottle of water and go for salt lake walk. I keep mask on my head, because a sunstroke. Jab out to make photo with Badwater Basin sign indicating the depth 86 meters or 282 feet under the Sea. I am continuing on my salt lake walk, but the way has no finish... still see foggy mountain horizon, which does not get near! I feel really hot and there is too much salt in the air! My Eyes became dry, no water! I am going back and I am grateful, when I can sit down in the shadow aside from smelly WC and gape at salt lake. I am too thirsty and I do not have fuck water hump!
Others are returning very long time! I wonder what they are looking for... fucking hot Death Valley! Death Valley takes energy out. So I sit in the shadow and gape at sea level sign on rock or to salt lake. Finally we are complete, well we can go back to Furnace Creek Ranch oasis. Firstly I have to refuel motorcycle, secondly I want go to Drive Inn to buy some drinks and food! Than I want to buy some souvenirs. Oh God give me some water! I am droughty as camel!
Generally, I am glad to see Death Valley, but if I must decided again to go or not to go to Death Valley or recommend Death Valley trip out of Mother Road - Route 66, I must say: "Fuck it sweaty Death Valley! Go to the Grand Canyon instead of it, specifically to Skywalk, which is roughly the same distance of Las Vegas, NV! I am persuaded it's better experience than whole Death Valley!". I can declare it, because I experienced and saw Death Valley. When I was in America and decided where to go and where to not go, I wanted to see it! It is recommendation by me to do your opinion on the basis of your own experiences! Then you can easily gripe... but take many bottle of water with you!
Diverse road is waiting on us while returning to Las Vegas, NV. So "kick your ass" to goooooo…
